How to Install CloudStream on Firestick

You can install CloudStream, or pretty much any Android app, on your Firestick using a tool called Downloader. It’s free, sits right in Amazon’s own app store, and its whole job is grabbing an app file from a link and installing it, since Firestick won’t let you add outside apps any other way.

What Is CloudStream on Firestick?

CloudStream is the same app on Firestick as it is on a phone. It streams movies, shows, and anime, but through add-ons you install yourself rather than a library that’s already loaded in.

Amazon doesn’t sell it in its app store, so getting it onto your Firestick means “sideloading.” The word makes it sound harder than it is.   5. Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources.

Step 2: Install the Downloader App

  1. From Home, select Find, then Search.
  2. Type Downloader and select it from the results.
  3. Click Get or Download, then open it.
  4. It’ll ask for a few permissions. Click Allow.

Step 3: Download and Install CloudStream

  1. Inside Downloader, click the search bar on the Home tab.
  2. Enter the CloudStream download link or its shortcode (shown on this page).

Downloader will ask if you want to delete the installer file. Go ahead, that only removes a leftover file, not the app you just installed.

  • “Low storage” error partway through: Older Fire TV Stick models don’t have much room to spare. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications and clear some cache, or remove something you don’t use anymore.
  • Downloader won’t open after installing it: Restart the Firestick. That usually clears it up.
  • Typing the download link feels painfully slow with the remote: Use the shortcode instead, a handful of characters beats a full web address on that on-screen keyboard.
  • Install button is greyed out: Check that Apps from Unknown Sources are still turned on. A Fire TV software update can quietly switch it back off.

How to Use CloudStream for the First Time

CloudStream opens to an empty screen. No content, nothing to click on. That’s not a broken install.

It’s built more like a TV with no channels programmed in yet than a normal streaming app. Movies and shows only show up once you point it at a source, and that source has two parts: a repository and an extension. Neither one is complicated once you’ve done it once.
